This week’s Raw saw hometown hero John Cena make his triumphant WWE return, just in time to set up his WrestleMania program with Austin Theory.
While fans’ opinions on Cena’s promo exchange with Theory have very much differed, it seems like WWE themselves couldn’t be happier with Cena’s appearance at the TD Garden.
According to Fightful Select, many within WWE were happy with what Cena brought to Monday night’s show, in particular for how Cena brought “familiar eyes to the show”.
Despite Cena usually providing WWE a major ratings boost, this week’s show only saw a rather marginal increase.
According to ShowBuzzDaily, Raw drew an average of 1.83 million viewers, with a 0.52 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a 0.33 in the 18-34.
Cena is set to take on Austin Theory for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 39, however it’s currently unclear what the 16-time world champion’s future looks like post-Mania.
After his appearance, he tweeted: “Last night was the first time I entered the arena and had the thought that it might be the last time”.
