WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam faced Swerve Strickland on the January 31 2024 episode of AEW Dynamite and has reacted to his performance.
The main event of AEW Dynamite was a Dealer’s Choice match with ‘Hangman’ Adam Page revealing that it would be a Hardcore match.
As can be seen in the highlights below this news story, the crowd were definitely behind the action which would eventually see RVD hit by the Swerve Stomp, losing the match.
The match would see interference from Brian Cage who would find himself brawling with a steel chair-wielding HOOK.
The match marked RVD’s first appearance of 2024 with AEW and his first match since October 25 2023 where he teamed with HOOK to beat The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver).
Reacting to the match on social media, RVD tweeted:
“Psssh. Some of ya’ll act like I didn’t tell you I can still go
“Thank you @AEW @TonyKhan and Van Dam Fam🤘”
The “You still got it!” chants from the AEW fans at UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans would certainly confirm RVD’s point.
Strickland’s win will see him face Hangman Adam Page on next week’s Dynamite.
The winner of that match goes on to face Samoa Joe for the AEW World Title at AEW Revolution on March 3, 2024.
