Vince McMahon’s Reaction To Backstage Politics Revealed WWE

Rob Van Dam has opened about about Vince McMahon’s reaction to backstage politics and the frustration that it brought with it.

RVD joined WWE in 2001 as part of the Invasion storyline and would remain part of the company until 2007 and would have a short second run in 2013, leaving in 2014 before making a further return in 2019 leading to sporadic appearances and a Hall of Fame induction in 2021.

Now the host of his own podcast, 1 of a Kind, the WWE Hall of Famer has discussed conversations with Vince McMahon about backstage politics, saying:

“I always got along with Vince. I don’t remember when we first started talking after I was hired there in 2001.

“I just remember he was always respectful and cool to me.

“I remember going to him when I was frustrated about politics and he was very open. That might have been maybe the first time that I actually bonded with him.

“[I] went in there and just unloaded about everything, about a lot of stuff that I haven’t even talked about yet in a public format.

“He was really cool and open to that discussion. He was like, ‘Rob, I appreciate you’re frustrated.’ He was always open to ideas.”

Rob Van Dam has previously reflected on his belief that Triple H tried to bury him during their time together in the company.

He has also discussed advice from Jim Ross over plans to have him lose to Road Dogg.
