Top WWE Star Says He Wanted Rumoured Signing To Join WWE ‘A Long Time Ago’ WWE

Top WWE star AJ Styles says he wanted rumoured signing and former NJPW star Tama Tonga to join WWE “a long time ago.”

At NJPW The New Beginning in Sapporo, Hikuleo and El Phantasmo defeated Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa in a battle of the Guerillas of Destiny. This bout also served as the final match of Tama’s 14-year run with New Japan Pro Wrestling with his contract expiring.

As previously reported, Wrestling Observer reported that WWE sources confirmed that Tonga is heading to the company following the end of his NJPW run.

Despite his connection to The Bloodline, some fans speculated that “The Bad Boy” could reunite with his fellow former Bullet Club members, such as Finn Balor, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows and AJ Styles.

Speaking with Tim & Eli on the Battleground Podcast, Styles was asked about Tama Tonga’s prospects if he should come to WWE. He answered:

“The sky is the limit,”

“This guy can get after it. I know how good Tama is. The fact that he may be coming over would be awesome.”

“I was hoping he would come over a long time ago, but he didn’t have any interest back then. If there is interest now, he’s making the right decision.”

It remains to be seen if and when Tama Tonga will debut with WWE at the time of this writing.

Meanwhile, AJ Styles is scheduled to face LA Knight in a singles match at WrestleMania 40. For the full lineup for the event, click here.
