WWE Star Shares Emotional Message Following Shock Injury Announcement WWE

A WWE star has shared an emotional message of gratitude after making a shock injury announcement on the December 5 edition of NXT.

Just days shy of challenging Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Championship at Deadline (December 9), Wes Lee took to the ring with the assistance of a walking cane to announce that he would not be able to compete due to injury.

While specific details on the injury were not disclosed by Lee, PWInsider have reported the belief that it is a back injury of some description.

Lee also revealed that the injury would require surgery, with Vic Joseph on commentary suggesting that the former North American Champion could miss 8-12 months of action.

Following up on his announcement, Lee would reply to a loving message of support from his wife Erica Marie on Twitter, sending a heartfelt one back.

Lee said:

You have been the greatest source of strength that I could’ve ever asked for.

Thank you for constantly uplifting me mi Reina. I love you so damn much and can’t say enough how much you mean to me.

MEA FLR

Lee’s announcement on NXT was welcomed by Dominik Mysterio who believed that he would now get the night off at Deadline.

However, unfortunately for ‘Dirty’ Dom will in fact be defending his title at Deadline, with it announced that SmackDown’s Dragon Lee will be returning to the brand to challenge his former rival.

Not only that but Rey Mysterio, who himself is currently sidelined following knee surgery will be in Lee’s corner for the match.

WrestleTalk would like to extend our well-wishes to Lee in his upcoming surgery and subsequent recovery.
