A pair of WWE stars were removed from the first of its kind tag team battle royal on tonight’s WWE NXT.
There were changes to a couple of teams initially set for the ‘Bada Bing Bada Boom’ Battle Royal despite the lineup being announced last week.
Originally, Drew Gulak and Charlie Dempsey, and Damon Kemp and Myles Borne, were announced as being in the battle royal as two separate teams.
However, there was no Dempsey or Borne in the match, and instead it was Gulak and Kemp who were in as a team.
As for the gap left by Dempsey and Borne being out, that was filled by the main roster’s Brawling Brutes (Butch and Ridge Holland) who appeared on last week’s stacked edition of NXT.
Kemp and Gulak actually ended up being the very first team eliminated after only a few seconds.
The final three teams were the Creed Brothers, Chase U (Andre Chase and Duke Hudson) and Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza, with pandemonium breaking out on the outside with the outcast participants.
It was then that Carrillo was sent over the top rope, but because Garza encouraged him to get back in the ring and eliminate the Creed Brothers while the referees were busy on the outside of the ring, they didn’t see Carrillo get eliminated.
Instead, Garza and Carrillo then eliminated the Creed Brothers, which the referees did see, leaving the final two teams as Garza & Carrillo and Chase U to compete in a regular tag match.
With the support of Jacy Jayne and Thea Hail, and interference from the Creed Brothers to get revenge, it was Chase U who won the regular match that took place between the two final teams.
Chase U will now challenge Tony D’Angelo and Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo – who were watching from the balcony where they appeared to be enjoying a spaghetti and meatball dinner complete with red wine – for the NXT Tag Team Championship at Halloween Havoc.
Tonight’s NXT will also see a #1 contender for the NXT Championship crowned in a three-way between Carmelo Hayes, Baron Corbin and Dijak.
