Former WWE Name Says Stephanie McMahon ‘Caught A Lot Of Flack’ WWE

Stephanie McMahon’s resignation from WWE came as a shock to many, with some in several in the industry “expressing dismay”.

Now, a former member of WWE creative has giving insight into what it was like to work with Stephanie.

Robert Karpeles was a WWE writer and producer between 2005 and 2007 and recently spoke to Wrestling Inc.’s Senior News Editor Nick Hausman about the former Co-CEO of WWE and Chairwoman of the company’s Board of Directors.

Karpeles described meeting McMahon as a different experience than anyone else, saying:

“It’s a recognizable figure. And within about a minute and a half, two minutes, she becomes an incredibly relatable, very, very nice person.”

He would recall early interactions, framing them in the context of Stephanie being a McMahon, saying:

“We were arguing over who had the worst dorm room in college. So it was very weird.

“She was a fantastic boss who caught a lot of flack unnecessarily.

“I think just the nature of being in that role and that idea of, ‘Well, your last name is your last name and if you weren’t here it would be,’ fill-in-the-blank.”

Karpeles would also explain that Stephanie would be the go-between between WWE Creative and the man at the top, Vince McMahon.

The team would present Stephanie with scripts, pitches and ideas that she would go on to approve.

Once approved, they would go to Vince McMahon with her “full support on it.”

Stephanie McMahon recently announced her resignation from WWE with Nick Khan becoming the sole CEO of WWE and Vince McMahon being elected as Executive Chairman by the Board of Directors.
