A new championship match is reportedly being planned for WWE SummerSlam at Ford Field in Detroit on August 5.
Recent reports have revealed seven matches planned for the event, and there’s now an eighth.
According to the previous report from Dave Meltzer, the plans for SummerSlam are:
Roman Reigns vs Jey Uso
Gunther vs Drew McIntyre
Asuka vs Charlotte Flair vs Bianca Belair
Shayna Baszler vs Ronda Rousey
Cody Rhodes vs Brock Lesnar
Trish Stratus vs Becky Lynch
Logan Paul vs Ricochet
In the current issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer now reports that Rhea Ripley versus Raquel Rodriguez is in the plans.
The match would be for the WWE Women’s World Championship that Ripley has held since WrestleMania 39 in April 2023.
Meltzer does state that matches earmarked for SummerSlam could be moved to television “at the last minute” either “right before or right after” the August 5 card.
Meltzer does state that his sources have said that the matches were scheduled for SummerSlam, but “there is a lot of competition to get on the show” due to Paul Levesque’s (Triple H’s) tactic of less matches on premium live events in recent months.
