Ahead of a championship match tonight on WWE NXT, the champion was replaced at the last minute due to an apparent injury.
At the beginning of a Heritage Cup match between champion Noam Dar and challenger Nathan Frazer, with Frazer ready to compete, instead Dar came to the ring on crutches, noting that he was too injured to compete.
He instead sent in fellow Meta-Four member Oro Mensah to defend the cup on his behalf against the high-flying Frazer.
It’s unclear whether Dar’s injury is legitimate or just part of the storyline, but we’ll keep you updated.
In the Heritage Cup match format, there were a unique set of rules including:
Match consisted of six three-minute rounds with 20-second breaks between each round with stars going back to their respective corners/support at ringside.
Match is 2-out-of-3 falls.
Falls can be won by pinfall, submission, or count out.
Once a fall occurs, the round ends.
The match ends once a wrestler has won two falls.
In the event of a disqualification or knockout, the match instantly ends without the need for two falls.
If all six rounds are completed, whoever is ahead on falls wins the match
In this case, Mensah had Noam Dar, Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson at ringside in his corner while Frazer came with Dragon Lee.
However when Legend and Jackson again interfered in the match, attempting to distract the referee, out came Valentina Feroz and Yulisa Leon to take out the pair.
This allowed Frazer to duck and dive before going to the top rope for a giant move before capturing the pinfall victory over Mensah.
With Nathan Frazer capturing the NXT Heritage Cup, Naom Dar was still spotted at ringside with crutches after the match, sobbing at the loss.
Elsewhere on tonight’s WWE NXT, we heard from Seth Rollins via video screen, who accepted Bron Breakker’s challenge for a World Heavyweight Championship match.
