WWE’s Braun Strowman has revealed how a Hall of Famer and current AEW name led to him getting the attention of Vince McMahon.
Having signed a WWE contract in early 2013, Strowmann is currently on his second run in the company an it all may not have happened if it hadn’t been for Mark Henry.
Speaking on The Ranveer Show, Strowman revealed how it all came about, saying of Henry:
“He saw something in me. I was imagining I was Hulk Hogan when I was a kid ripping my shirt off again, throwing it into the crowd, having 20,000 people go crazy at the Arnold Classic.
“Mark Henry saw something and called Vince McMahon and said, ‘You need to look at this kid.'”
Mark Henry won the 2002 Arnold Strongman Classic in the inaugural competition.
Strowman won the 2012 Arnold Amateur Strongman Championships which took place in March that year.
He would be invited to the Arnold Classic in 2013 finishing the global competition in 10th place.
In his WWE career to date, Strowman has held the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship on two occasions, including once with the youngest champion in company history (Nicholas) and is also a former WWE Universal and WWE Intercontinental Champion.
Strowman was released from WWE in June 2021 and re-signed with the company in September 2022.
