Planned Finish For WWE WrestleMania 40 Championship Match Leaked WWE

The planned finish to a big championship match at WWE WrestleMania 40 may have potentially been leaked.

On WWE Raw (April 1), Michael Cole shared some news regarding the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship six-way ladder match at WrestleMania 40.

Cole mentioned that the match wouldn’t end until both sets of tag titles were retrieved from above the ring – if one set is pulled down, the match continues until the other has been too – leading fans to assume WWE are planning to once again split up the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Titles.

While some fans had already theorised this would happen before Cole’s comments, the mention of it was more evidence that this could the path WWE is looking to take at WrestleMania.

And now, courtesy of Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, we have an update on whether this scenario could in fact play out in Philadelphia, and it does sound like it’s something WWE is planning to do.

Meltzer wrote:

There has become more and more talk about the potential to create two champions in this match so picking a winner is weird because there could be two winners.

The Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships have been unified in WWE for almost two years, ever since The Usos defeated RK-Bro on the May 20, 2022 episode of SmackDown.

While the titles have remained one since then, their lineage has continued to exist separately.

The six teams in the ladder match currently announced are defending champions Finn Balor & Damian Priest, as well as DIY, New Catch Republic, A-Town Down Under, New Day and Awesome Truth.
