Zack Sabre Jr. made waves in New Japan Pro Wrestling prior to the shutdown. When Minoru Suzuki fell to Jon Moxley at The New Beginning in Osaka, Sabre was quick to jump Moxley. This catapulted Sabre into contention for Moxley’s IWGP United States Championship.
Now, Sabre has discussed wanting that match and where he wants it. In an interview with njpw1972.com, Sabre said he wants a match with the AEW and NJPW star at Wrestle Dynasty. Here is the full quote:
“I don’t think anything would be better than being US Champion at Wrestle Dynasty, and how upset American wrestling fans would be. I think as well, Moxley was coming after my group, I didn’t want to wait for him to come to me, I wanted to jump in.”
Moxley is known as a hardcore specialist but Sabre wants to win this title in a traditional wrestling match.
“I can appreciate that fans would be excited about that; I’m excited about that. You don’t know which way it’s going to go. He’s been having these hardcore rules with everyone and that isn’t going to work with me; you can keep the furniture under the ring, sunshine. I wouldn’t be chasing after him if I didn’t think I could win. I can win. It won’t be easy, but I can win,”
There is a problem with Sabre’s plan. Moxley is not allowed to perform for New Japan Pro Wrestling in the United States. So this match will not be happening at Wrestle Dynasty. That is if Wrestle Dynasty happens at all.
Either way, it seems Moxley and Sabre are on a collision course.
