In the past, making the jump from NXT to the WWE’s main roster has been seen as a rite of passage for stars in the “developmental” brand.
But as the level of wrestling on NXT consistently outshines the main roster, you can’t help but understand when you hear that wrestlers are happy to stay in the yellow and black.
Triple H, the man in charge of NXT, is also looking for main roster stars who may have struggled on Raw or SmackDown to move back to NXT to hone their skills and refresh themselves.
In a media conference call ahead of NXT TakeOver: WarGames, Trips said:
“I think you can be at a place where you can see main level talent stay in NXT.
“We are also at the point where you can see some talent that have been on Raw and SmackDown for periods of time, who have had some success or haven’t for whatever reason, who aren’t being utilized, go back to NXT.
“A talent who doesn’t get a lot of exposure on SmackDown and moves to Raw, it could be a game-changer for them, and all of a sudden they can do something different. I do think it [NXT] is a third brand.”
The Revival, Luke Harper, Tye Dillinger and Tyler Breeze have all made recent cameo appearances at NXT live shows, and as you can see, those are stars with not a lot going on.
I am 100% for this idea. Think of all the talent promoted to the main roster this year; only Drew McIntyre can be labelled as a genuine success.
So, look out for Brock Lesnar at an NXT show near you.
