This saga just keeps on going, doesn’t it? Ever since it was announced that Cody and the Young Bucks were starting their own promotion, All Elite Wrestling, there has been speculation over who they would sign, and who they would work with.
The news yesterday was that following a meeting between AEW, NJPW and ROH, neither New Japan or Ring of Honor were currently willing to work with AEW, but that may have changed.
The biggest factor here is Kenny Omega, who for many people is the best wrestler on the planet. Understandably, NJPW are desperate to hold onto his services in some way, and as Kenny looks to be heading for AEW, they may be willing to change their minds.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said:
“New Japan does not want to lose Kenny Omega badly.”
“New Japan really wants Kenny Omega so they may be working with All Elite. I don’t know how it’s all going to come down. But it definitely went from the idea that they’re not going to be working with All Elite now, but they may at some point, anything can happen at some point, but for now that wasn’t going to happen, to I think it’s got a very good shot at happening.”
He hit home that nothing had been finalised as far as he was aware, and that things seem to be changing all the time. He was relatively certain that Kenny is heading to AEW come February and the end of his New Japan contract.
