Brandi Rhodes and Cody have clarified a few questions coming out of yesterday’s fascinating AEW Double Or Nothing rally.
At the event, Brandi stated there would be no gender pay gap in AEW, saying men and women would receive equal pay for equal work and noting that there would be no sliding scale.
That led to some fans wondering whether that meant everyone would be paid equally and questions about whether female talent Penelope Ford and Britt Baker would be receiving the same big money contracts as the likes of Chris Jericho and The Young Bucks.
Brandi offered clarification on Twitter:
Equal pay means equal opportunity regardless of sex. It does not mean that everyone will be paid the exact same salary regardless of their position. It means the gender pay gap does not apply. An entry level woman won’t make less than an entry level man because of her gender.

“We don’t want to shut doors”
In a post-rally Q&A when questioned about the exclusivity of AEW’s contracted talent, Cody and Brandi told the media that the promotion wanted to be “friendly with a lot of people”.
“We don’t want to shut doors,” said Brandi, “There’s no reason to. We like a lot of people”.
Who those people are remains to be seen but it does potentially open up the possibility of Chris Jericho wrestling for Impact, Kenny Omega making New Japan appearances (assuming he signs) and allows PAC to continue with Dragon Gate, which is his number one priority.
Cody then confirmed that Joey Janela would still be allowed to run his Spring Break event over WrestleMania weekend and that Jericho would still be putting on his wrestling cruise events.
That’s good news for the various indy promotions all over the world then, and yet another example of how AEW is vastly different to WWE.
