According to PWInsider, WWE officials are strongly considering turning Andrade babyface and creating an hispanic babyface faction on SmackDown centred around him.
Andrade would reportedly be joined by Rey Mysterio and the rarely seen Sin Cara to create a three-man unit, which has been WWE’s standard number for factions for several years.
The idea is for the well-received Mysterio-Andrade program to end with Andrade becoming a babyface and the duo forming a regular tag team that will be heavily featured as a top act on the brand.
Cara, who has been at the Performance Center recently training for a comeback from injury, would be the third man in the group, making it a three man team like New Day where two of the members wrestle at a time, meaning there are several variants of the same match that WWE can do.
WWE is looking to push tag wrestling as a key focus in 2019 as a direct counter to AEW. The new promotion has already made it clear that tag wrestling will be a main feature of its product, especially with The Young Bucks heading up the division.
WWE is looking to counter that by creating and pushing several teams in order that disgruntled duos (such as The Revival and The Good Brothers) are not tempted to head to AEW as soon as they are contractually able to.
