On the second night of this weekend’s NXT UK TV tapings in Coventry, it was confirmed that Pete Dunne will defend his WWE United Kingdom Championship against WALTER at NXT TakeOver: New York.
It was first confirmed the ‘Bruiserweight’ would be defending the title, and then he called out the Austrian big man after WALTER had stepped on the UK Title at the previous night’s tapings after the two had beaten the Coffeys in a tag match.
This will be WALTER’s first TakeOver event. Dunne retained the UK Title over Joe Coffey in the main in event of UK TakeOver: Blackpool this past January – directly after which WALTER debuted by confronting him to close the show – and also appeared on the last ‘main’ TakeOver at WarGames, where he, Ricochet and the War Raiders beat the Undisputed Era in a WarGames match.
Dunne has held the UK title for an astounding 643 days as of this writing, after beating inaugural champ Tyler Bate at TakeOver: Chicago in 2017.
