Former Impact Champion Eli Drake’s contract is set to expire at the end of April or beginning of May according to PWInsider’s Mike Johnson.
Drake performed for WWE’s developmental brand NXT between 2013-14 as Slate Randall, but was mainly used as a jobber. WWE have reportedly been interested in bringing Drake back to the promotion, and Johnson adds that there is ”absolutely interest in him elsewhere.”
Drake is currently in a story where he is beginning to find success in an unlikely pairing with Eddie Edwards, and Impact have seemingly been unable to sign Drake up to a new contract. They have ensured that Moose, Sami Callahan, and the aforementioned Edwards, amongst other top names have all signed new contracts, presumingly ensuring they don’t get snapped up by AEW or WWE.
