It was confirmed by Impact Wrestling just prior to WrestleMania 35 that their former champion Eli Drake had been released from the company. The promotion released the following statement to confirm Drake’s departure:
“Impact Wrestling announced today that it has terminated its relationship with Shaun Ricker, known as ‘Eli Drake”
Today he took to Twitter to confirm he has officially left Impact after four years with the promotion, thanking them for their “great experience”. He confirmed he is now a free-agent.

Eli Drake did tease an appearance at their Rebellion pay-per-view later on in April, but did not appear. The 36-year-old has not wrestled for Impact since their March 22nd tapings, or any other promotion for that matter.

Drake also teased an appearance at AEW Double or Nothing, but did not wrestle or even appear at the show in any capacity.
It has been reported that WWE were interested in bringing Drake back to the promotion. He was signed to an NXT contract in 2013 but left just one year later. However, it was reported that Vince McMahon’s company were waiting for Drake to be officially done with Impact.
With Drake now properly a free agent, perhaps we could be seeing the extremely charismatic performer in the crowd at the next NXT Takeover event ahead of a return to the black and gold brand.
