WrestleTalk.com is back with our next set of Facts, Opinions, and Rumors.
In this feature we take a look at the recent stories in the wrestling world and the rumors surrounding them.
We also offer our opinions on these happenings going on around the world of wrestling.
Adam Cole, Bay Bay
Fact: Adam Cole is your new NXT Champion. He’s also one of the most over wrestlers in NXT, or any promotion for that matter. Despite working as a heel, he often gets one of loudest, if not the loudest, pops of the night.
Rumor: Adam Cole is potentially being called up to the main roster soon.
Rumor: Adam Cole doesn’t want to go up.
Opinion: Adam Cole should remain on the NXT roster. The rumors above do not mention the rest of the Undisputed Era.
Adam Cole is absolutely fantastic. However, there are a few factors making this a bad move for Adam Cole and really WWE at this time.
Cole is not big. He’s actually really small, even by cruiserweight standards. While he has the personality and charisma to get over with fans, will he get over with Vince?
The second factor is that he just became the champ. He doesn’t need to move up at this time. Let him get a solid run as champ for NXT and then call him up when the roster needs him.
Finally, it’s been clear that Vince is trying anything and everything to pop the ratings. While I love Adam Cole, I don’t think he alone is going to move the ratings needle in a rushed debut.
An Undisputed Era call up with a planned, long-term storyline would be the best for ratings and competing with other promotions.
