If you include all the belts from Raw, Smackdown, 205 Live, NXT and NXT UK, WWE currently has a staggering 18 active championships on their books.
Despite not being able to allocate time for all championships to be defended on pay-per-views, WWE is reportedly considering bringing back a retired title.
Belt Fan Dan, who has been very accurate with backstage scoops regarding championships in WWE, has said that an idea for NXT UK to introduce a new midcard title has been discussed backstage
It's being proposed that NXT:UK introduce a midcard title.

Someone then asked what possible names this new belt could have, and Dan said that while “Eurocontinental” had been discussed, we could also see the return of the European Championship.
A few names were thrown around including "European" and "Eurocontinental".

The European Championship was active in WWE between 1997-2002, and was held by the likes of Triple H, William Regal, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho and Shane McMahon, just to name a few.
The belt was unified with the Intercontinental Championship on the July 22, 2002 episode of Raw when Intercontinental Champion Rob Van Dam defeated European Champion Jeff Hardy.
There is currently no word on when this new NXT UK championship is planned on being introduced, or if it will have the same look as the old WWE European Championship, if that is the name they chose.
