The will he, won’t he saga with CM Punk seems to be nearing its climax, and to be honest we’re no closer to knowing what’s going to happen next than when we started. What we do know is that he’s probably not going to AEW.
Many fans assumed that once AEW was formed, Punk was one of the more obvious signings for Cody and the Young Bucks to seek out, but it looks like that isn’t going to happen.
Speaking to the New York Post, AEW Vice President and one half of the Young Bucks, Nick Jackson said:
“I think the ship has sailed on that one.”
The latest reports are that Punk had a tryout for an on-screen role on FOX’s upcoming WWE Backstage show, and that he may well have been offered the position. We are awaiting confirmation on this.
Punk himself confirmed that he had been for the tryout, but once again ruled out a return to the ring, saying the role was with FOX rather than actually with WWE.
It has been reported that CM Punk upset a lot of people in AEW after making some less than kind comments about the way they approached him to sign with the company, so it would be one hell of a shock if he did sign.
