Fans threw titles on the ground, booed, chanted AEW, asked for refunds, and told Seth Rollins he wasn’t cool at the end of WWE’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. However, the question is did they stop watching?
WWE Raw drew 2.334 million viewers according to Showbuzz Daily. This is down from last week’s 2.571 million viewers. This is a 9% decrease from the “Season Premiere.”
WWE barely mentioned the Hell in a Cell match between The Fiend and Seth Rollins. The entire match got a couple minute recap video.
Neither Seth Rollins nor Bray Wyatt appeared on the show. However, The Fiend did appear after Raw in a dark angle.
Instead, WWE booked the show around Braun Strowman and Tyson Fury. Fans didn’t stick around to see how the angle played out.
Raw lost 220,000 viewers between hour 1 and hour 3. While Fury didn’t draw viewers in, he did gain mainstream coverage. BBC and ESPN both ran stories on him appearing on Raw.
Is WWE going to put all its hype behind Smackdown on Fox? Or, will it bring back some star power on Raw?
Whatever the case, with all the options out there, WWE is going to have to put out a better product in which fans actually want to tune in to get the ratings to go back up.
