At Survivor Series next week, The Fiend Bray Wyatt will be defending his Universal Championship against Daniel Bryan. The match was made official last night on Friday Night Smackdown.
However, reports and live event promotion suggested that The Fiend was actually scheduled to face The Miz at the upcoming pay-per-view, but WWE decided to go with Bryan instead.
Dave Meltzer is reporting on the Wrestling Observer Radio that Wyatt was, in fact, supposed to defend his belt again The Miz on the show. He also explained why plans changed.
“I believe the original idea was The Fiend against The Miz and they were going to shoot that angle on the show that got messed up from Saudi Arabia.”
Although The Miz is a solid character in WWE, I’m sure many fans are rather happy that WWE decided to go with Bryan as a slightly more high-profile first feud for The Fiend as Universal Champion.
Although he will be challenging for the Universal Championship on the show, it has been reported that there were actually plans for Bryan to walk into Survivor Series as Intercontinental Champion and face Roderick Strong and AJ Styles.
