It was announced during last night’s NXT that Cruiserweight Champion Lio Rush will defend against Angel Garza on next week’s episode.
Rush retained the title over Garza on the November 13 episode, but personal animosity between the two has continued due to Garza’s provocative actions towards Rush’s wife.
Rush has retained the title twice since his defence over Garza. He beat Raw’s Akira Tozawa and SmackDown’s Kalisto on the Survivor Series pre-show, and then Tozawa again the following Wednesday on NXT.
Garza has picked some momentum back up since then too. He defeated Isaiah Scott on the TakeOver: WarGames 2019 pre-show, and a couple of 205 Live wins over Jack Gallagher.
Rush has now held the title for 53 days since beating previous champion Drew Gulak on October 9.
Also announced for next week’s NXT is a grudge match between Dakota Kai and Mia Yim. On the December 18 episode, Shayna Baszler will defend the Women’s Title against Rhea Ripley.
