The first two quarter-finals in the AEW TNT Championship tournament have been announced, and boy are we in for some amazing wrestling in this 8-man bracket.
In the first quarter-final, Shawn Spears will be taking on Cody, who Spears famously busted open with a brutal chair shot to the head last year.
Cody won the subsequent match between the two at All Out 2019, but the bitter history remains.
IT’S OFFICIAL!

While Cody, as is expected given that he’s one of the company’s biggest stars, has remained at the top of the card, Spears has slowly lost momentum and hasn’t had any really meaningful feuds in recent months.
Hopefully this is a sign that AEW is once again backing Spears to do big things alongside manager Tully Blanchard.
In the other quarter final, we see a rematch from AEW Revolution, as Sammy Guevara attempts to avenge his loss to Darby Allin, in what will likely be a fast-paced bump fest of a match.
It is believed the matches will take place on the April 8 episode of AEW Dynamite, but given the uncertainty of the world at the moment, let’s not be too hasty.
