It is being reported that a newly formed NXT stable and storyline is actually based on a terrorist organisation that was active in the 1970s.
Over the last few weeks on NXT, both Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde have been kidnapped by masked men in an SUV in the parking lot.
It’s perhaps interesting to note that they had both lost matches to Kushida before they were abducted, which could just be coincidence, but also could be something more.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Melzter reported that the new group is based on the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA).
The group was active in the 1970s, abducting people before using threats of murder and sexual assault to essentially brainwash them into joining their organisation.
It is believed that this is what will happen with Mendoza and Wilde – although probably not to the same extent in terms of the threats – and potentially anyone else who gets kidnapped over the coming weeks.
The leader of the group is reportedly set to be Jorge Bolly, who has previously been known as King Cuerno and El Hijo del Fantasma.
Bolly’s character will reportedly be based on the SLA leader Donald “General Field Marshal Cinque” DeFreeze. There was also another leader, William “General Teko” Harris, whose role will be played by another NXT star, but it is unknown exactly who at this point.
When the kidnappings took place, it was two masked men, so you would imagine one of those was Bolly and the other was the other leader.
