Amanda Nunes is known as perhaps the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time. But would she be able to transition that to a career in WWE?
Earlier this month, Nunes posted a video on Instagram of herself beating Shayna Baszler from 2015. The video likely was meant to correlate with Baszler’s loss to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania. Sports Illustrated reached out to ask her about the video. Here is the quote from her interview:
“It was huge moment in my career. It’s not about showing people that I hurt her. It’s a reminder to me about believing in my coach. My coach at the time wanted me to drop her with the leg kick and that’s what happened.”
She was also asked about a potential career in WWE.
“Not right now, but maybe later when I retire. I’m open to it. Why not? I could try something new.”
She would not be the first person from the world of MMA to take a swing at wrestling. Considering the success of Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler in WWE, it would not be too surprising for Nunes to do well herself.
