It’s been well documented that Roman Reigns has made the decision to stay home and not risk his or his family’s health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Reigns has been battling Leukemia his whole life.
While it’s in remission, people who have had the disease are at much higher risk for problems should they contract Coronavirus. Reigns also has twins on the way. Any rational person would understand Roman’s situation and work with him.
However, when has anyone ever accused Vince McMahon of being rational? Dave Meltzer is now reporting that according to his sources that Vince’s opinion “changes daily based on which way the wind is blowing.”
This would explain why one day Roman Reigns is being shown on SmackDown and then the next week he’s being edited out of Make-A-Wish ads and WrestleMania video packages.
While Melzter doesn’t specifically say the word “heat,” he implies that Vince vacillates between frustration and understanding. He said Reigns hasn’t been banned. However, the only rule is that the announcers aren’t allowed to say his name.
If the pandemic eases up and the country starts opening back up, then we might see pressure mounting for Reigns to return. If the country stays shut down, Vince would have a really hard time forcing Roman’s hand. Roman has made a lot of money and, if he’s saved well, should be okay for a while.
However, the longer it seems dangerous for Reigns to travel the more likely Vince will want him back and Roman may feel the need to earn some paychecks.
