As part of the #SpeakingOut movement that shocked BritWres, several NXT UK wrestlers were accused of physical, sexual and emotional abuse.
Following on from this, WWE reportedly released Ligero and Travis Banks. While this has not been confirmed by the company, you cannot find either man’s profile on WWE.com.
In the wake of these allegations, a report emerged from Tom Colohue indicating that WWE higher-ups were looking into the possibility of scrapping NXT UK at this time.
As well as the allegations, Vince McMahon is reportedly not happy at having to pay the NXT UK roster while they are unable to produce content during the Coronavirus pandemic, especially considering that the brand is said to not produce any profit outside of TakeOver events.
This report has been rebuffed by talkSPORT’s Alex McCarthy who has stated on Twitter that he has heard WWE has no intention of scrapping NXT UK in the near future.
On the matter, here’s what McCarthy had to say:
I’m also told WWE are not looking at cancelling NXT UK in the short term/near future. Pretty emphatically, too.
