Just one week removed from SummerSlam, WWE will be holding its Payback pay-per-view event on the WWE Network on Sunday, August 30.
So far four matches have been confirmed. They are:
- “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns – Universal Championship
- Keith Lee vs. Randy Orton
- Apollo Crews (c) vs. Bobby Lashley – United States Championship
- Bayley & Sasha Banks (c) vs. Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler – Women’s Tag Team Championship
Having only given itself seven days to announce a card, we can expect more to be added in the coming days. In this post we look at six matches WWE could add to Payback.
King Corbin vs Matt Riddle
Corbin vs Riddle has been the direction really ever since Riddle made the move from NXT to SmackDown, but we’ve still not had the inevitable match.
Many expected it to take place at SummerSlam, but it has since been reported that it wasn’t planned for SummerSlam and was instead tentatively planned for Payback.
Of course, plans change, but given that WWE has been building to this for weeks and weeks, it seems almost certain we’ll get the encounter on Sunday.
Aleister Black vs Kevin Owens
Aleister Black was off TV for a number of weeks after having his eye attacked by Seth Rollins and Murphy, but returned this past Monday on the Kevin Owens show.
Things weren’t smooth sailing though, as Black was very intense and eventually exploded at Owens, laying him out with the Black Mass, thus turning heel.
It’s likely that WWE will want to put Owens on a pay-per-view card, which he hasn’t been since WrestleMania, and Black is the only real opposition he has at this time.
