Some more news has been provided regarding a very impressive free agent who may be signing with AEW some point in the future.
Fightful recently interviewed Ben Carter, and ahead of the interview releasing the site has covered some of the more newsworthy notes coming out of it on Fightful Select.
Carter has recently made a name for himself with a couple of matches in AEW, most notably against Scorpio Sky on Late Night Dynamite, but has yet to sign with the promotion and has interest from WWE and others.
Two names in particular were credited in part for Carter’s arrival in AEW. Britt Baker was said to have put him over to Tony Khan without even meeting him, and Christopher Daniels made contact to bring him in.
Carter is from Jersey, but his residential status actually meant he couldn’t get paid for the matches he’s done, so he did them for free – he did say he was happy to do this. Before he can sign any contract he’s going to have to sort out the situation though.
His three matches to date with the promotion were a loss to Ricky Starks on Dark, a loss to Scorpio Sky on Late Night Dynamite, and most recently a win on Dark over Lee Johnson. Carter said he’d be happy to partner up with Johnson in a tag team after they were both praised for their performances in that match.
