It was reported last week that AEW was interested in signing MLW star Mance Warner, and Bodyslam.net has now provided an update on Mance’s status with MLW and a potential AEW signing.
The site is reporting that Mance Warner’s request to have his MLW release granted has been rejected by the promotion. The report notes that Mance is still trying to get out of his contract and now has lawyers involved:
I have been told that Mance Warner has asked for his release from MLW, but was denied his request.
While Warner is currently under contract with MLW, source have confirmed to me that he is still trying to get out of his deal and that lawyers are now involved.
I reached out to MLW for a statement on the situation, asking about lawyer involvement, whether the company expected Warner to be present for their upcoming “Restart” TV Tapings, and if there had been any further negotiation between the two parties. However, the only comment I received from the company was “all we’re saying is he [Mance Warner] remains under a deal.”
I also asked MLW representatives how much time was left on Mance Warner’s current contract, which they also chose not to comment on.
This is certainly a rather interesting situation, so make sure you stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com as we’ll keep you posted on any potential updates that emerge regarding Mance Warner’s situation over the coming days/weeks.
