AEW Star Told WWE ‘No, F**k You’

AEW Star Told WWE ‘No, F**k You’

A top AEW star revealed that WWE contacted him after appearing on AEW TV.

Will Hobbs has the potential to be the next big thing. WWE eventually realised this, after Hobbs had made appearances for their rival promotion.

On AEW Unrestricted, Hobbs revealed that he’d had an impressive WWE try-out, including a dark match against Baron Corbin. At the time, WWE told Hobbs they had nothing for him, but promptly contacted him after he wrestled for AEW.

Hobbs dismissed WWE’s interest in him, claiming that he would’ve been a fool to entertain the company that originally had nothing for him.

Here is the full quote, courtesy of Fightful:

“The (WWE) try-out was good. They said ‘we don’t have anything for you right now.’ Years later, they carrot dangled in front of me and I pretty much told them, ‘F you.’ Right when I appeared on AEW, you wanna be like, ‘Hey, remember me?’ The way I was raised, I don’t have time for that s**t. I’m not ‘boo boo the fool’ as my Grandma would say. ‘Hey, we’ve been thinking about you and are interested in you.’ No, f**k you. I ain’t no sucka. I’d rather you tell me 100% no than try to BS me.”

This isn’t the first time that WWE have shown interest in competitors that featured on AEW. Ben Carter was promptly contacted by WWE after appearing on AEW Dark.

After signing with WWE, Carter was sent to start his WWE career in NXT UK, which isn’t a show traditionally prioritised by the company.

Showing appreciation for the company that gave him his spotlight, Hobbs signed with AEW in 2020. Hobbs is currently a part of Team Taz, who are currently a thorn in the side of TNT Champion Darby Allin.
