Roman Reigns’ Controversial Double Pin To Be Addressed On SmackDown

Roman Reigns retained the Universal Championship in a fantastic Triple Threat match against Daniel Bryan and Edge in the main event of WrestleMania 37 Night Two.

The finish to the match saw Reigns stack Edge on top of Daniel Bryan and pin them both, a finish that has caused a certain amount of controversy on social media.

Some fans claim that Edge is actually the legitimate Universal Champion, because he was lying on top of Daniel Bryan when the pin was counted, and WWE “official” Adam Pearce has admitted this is an interesting take.

The referee who counted the pin, Charles Robinson, has tweeted to say he made the call for Roman to win because all four shoulders were on the mat, and it was his final call.

However, it seems we haven’t seen the end of this storyline, as Pearce told Robinson on Twitter to see him in his office on Friday.

It isn’t clear whether this was always the plan, or whether WWE has made the call to book the story like this after fans complained about the finish.

The most likely scenario is that Edge will use this as a way of claiming he is the rightful champion, which could lead to a rematch for the Universal title at Backlash in May.
