Wrestlers and fans have taken to social media to react to Becky Lynch winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship at SummerSlam 2021.
During the August 21 pay-per-view, Becky Lynch made a surprise appearance after it was revealed that Sasha Banks was unable to compete in her match against Bianca Belair. Lynch and Belair had an impromptu title bout, with The Man pinning The EST in under a minute.
While some of the wrestling world was thrilled with Lynch’s return, some took issue with her winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship in a matter of seconds.
WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley congratulated Lynch, tweeting:
“CONGRATULATIONS BECKY! So proud to be a man who knows #TheMan”
The Iron Sheik took to Twitter to note his approval of Becky’s nickname, writing:
“I AM THE LEGEND BUT BECKY BUBBA YOU ARE THE MAN #Summerslam“
Wade Barrett also celebrated Lynch’s return, captioning his post:
“Congrats to #THEMAN @BeckyLynchWWE. What a return. What a champ.”
Noting that he’s still a fan of The Man, JTG gave his honest opinion on the segment, tweeting:
“I love Becky Lynch, but that was WACK!!!!!”
Cedric Alexander seemed to agree with JTG, posting this facepalm GIF:

A number of fans also compared Belair’s loss with Kofi losing the WWE Championship to Brock Lesnar in 2019 in just 8 seconds.
Lesnar also returned to WWE at SummerSlam, coming face to face with Universal Champion Roman Reigns after the main event. After the show, The Beast got physical, attacking John Cena.
