Ilja Dragunov and Walter faced off for the NXT UK Championship at NXT TakeOver 36. This match is a sequel to their classic match in the fall of 2020.
The match didn’t disappoint. Despite a colossal beatdown of epic proportions, Ilja Dragunov somehow managed to win the NXT UK Championship. He ended the over 800-day reign of Walter in the process.
Dragunov looked like the person who lost in the end. He left the match with a bloody forehead and a blistered chest, but the man wouldn’t give up. He also left with the gold.

I have no idea what Dave Meltzer will give that match in terms of ratings, but I certainly can’t imagine there being any matches that were harder hitting than that one. It was a classic.
Congratulations to Ilja Dragunov for the big title victory. The biggest question for me is what is next for Walter.
