Bryan Danielson’s first item of AEW merchandise, a new t-shirt available on AEWShop.com, indicates a return of his ‘American Dragon’ persona he used on the independent circuit, perhaps most notably in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
At the time of this writing, there is no update regarding the trademark status of ‘The American Dragon”. Keep an eye on the WrestleTalk AEW Trademark Tracker for an update.
Danielson also debuted new theme music at All Out, continuing forward with a remix similar to his WWE theme. He had used Europe’s ‘Final Countdown’ under the ‘American Dragon’ moniker, but it has since come out the rights to use the song were too expensive according to Dave Meltzer.
In a bit of related news, Danielson said during the post-All Out media scrum the “Yes!” movement might not be coming to AEW.
Bryan Danielson wrestled for ROH from 2002 to 2009. A two-disc “American Dragon’ DVD set from the time period calls Danielson “one of the founding fathers” of ROH. During his time with the promotion, Danielson held the ROH World Champion, the ROH Pure Championship, and won the ‘Survival of the Fittest’ tournament in 2004.
As reported previously by WrestleTalk, Danielson said during the media scrum:
“I’m not here to see how good I am. I know I’m good, right? I think everybody knows I’m pretty good, and I’m not cocky about it, I’ve just been around the world, I’ve been in the ring with the best guys and all that kind of stuff. I wanna see how good these guys are, because you can only see so much by watching.”
