Former NXT star Jonah Rock (fka Bronson Reed) has revealed what Shawn Michaels texted him after his WWE release on August 6.
A former North American Champion, Reed gained a lot of popularity during his most recent NXT run. Reed has revealed that after he was let go by WWE, NXT producer Shawn Michaels sent a message of encouragement to the Samoan Australian competitor.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Reed said:
“I got to speak with Shawn right after my release. He actually texted me, very shocked, and said, ‘You have to show them that it was a mistake. Keep working. It was not something we saw coming.’ I was speaking with him at the previous tapings about future storylines, and where we were headed. In my mind, creative already had plans for me until the end of the year.”
Since Reed’s departure, NXT has received a colourful rebrand. Last week’s premiere edition of ‘NXT 2.0’ drew an average of 770,000 viewers the brand’s highest viewership since April 20.
