WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns was a guest on this week’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and was asked whether he knew if the Rock would be making a surprise appearance at Survivor Series.
Because Roman isn’t stupid, he didn’t say “yes Jimmy, I’m spoiling it right here. The Rock will be there.” Instead, he was relatively non-committal, but said he hadn’t heard anything about any surprise Dwayne Johnson appearances.
He said:
“These are rumors you say? I have not heard these rumors and I would think I’m closer than anybody at this point. That’s not what I heard, but I also debuted at Survivor Series as well, so there’s a nice little tie-in there.”
There have been rumors for some time that The Rock will be returning to set up a WrestleMania match with Roman Reigns, but it isn’t clear whether the match is planned for WrestleMania in 2022 or 2023.
There have been suggestions the Rock won’t be available for 2022, which is why Brock Lesnar was brought back for Roman to have someone to face at WrestleManie 38 next year.
We’ll see this weekend, I suppose.
