Bron Breakker captured the NXT Championship from Tommaso Ciampa at last night’s (January 4) NXT New Year’s Evil show.
Breakker had an over the top entrance for the match, seeing him break free from chains, before smashing a giant gold X in the style of the old NXT logo, before going on to usher in the 2.0 era.
Fightful Select (subscription required) has provided an update on the spot, and how it was perceived backstage. Fightful notes that the people they spoke to in NXT felt that the spot was symbolic, and many of them didn’t like it.
WWE made numerous backstage releases from the brand today, with the directive being to remove as many Triple H hires as possible.
