Ahead of last week’s (January 7) edition of SmackDown, former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa worked a dark match with former NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne.
The two stars worked separate matches during this week’s WWE Main Event taping. Ciampa and Dunne faced off against one another before Friday’s (January 14) SmackDown, according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful
NXT stars have previously worked ‘tryout’ dark matches on main roster shows, ahead of potential main roster call-ups. As per PWInsider, both Ciampa and Dunne are both still internally listed as NXT talents.
Ciampa lost the NXT Championship to Bron Breakker at NXT New Year’s Evil. Dunne lost to Tony D’Angelo in a Crowbar on a Pole match on this week’s edition of NXT 2.0.
Both Dunne and Ciampa have yet to win a match in NXT in 2022. Stay up to date with NXT win/loss records with our tracker, at this link.
