Cody Rhodes Believes He Is Partly To Blame For AEW Vs WWE ‘Tribalism’ WWE

Former AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes left the company earlier this year, and made his return to WWE back at WrestleMania 38, defeating Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins on the first night of the show.

Cody’s WWE return led to distain from a certain portion of the AEW fanbase, who are very vocal about their support for AEW, and vice versa from a portion of WWE fans.

Cody recently spoke about the online tribalism from both companies on WWE After The Bell, where he said that he can’t get mad when he sees it, because he believes he is partly to blame for the tribalism being as strong as it is.

He said:

“I feel like that fan base, that divide that exists amongst all the different bubbles, if there was any negativity, well I can put some of the blame on my shoulders.

“The last shows I had done before making this WWE return, I’m taking little fun potshots and talking smack which is what wrestlers do. I think sometimes the fans that attach themselves to those statements forget that we are in the realm of entertainment, but I added to the tribalism myself, so I can’t necessarily get mad at it when I see it.”

Tribalism makes discussing professional wrestling online very tiresome and not fun, please stop it.

Cody Rhodes has been announced as the next guest on the Broken Skull Sessions, set for next week.

Cody Rhodes has been undefeated since his WWE return, with him set for a rematch against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania Backlash. For a list of all win/loss records for the men’s roster in WWE for 2022, click here.
