During tonight’s AEW Dynamite, an update was announced regarding CM Punk and the injury that is forcing him to take time away from the ring.
This comes after Punk made the initial announcement this past Friday on Rampage, and AEW following up by planning to crown an interim world champion at Forbidden Door on June 26.
During tonight’s Dynamite, it was announced that Punk underwent surgery on his lower leg earlier in the day, and that the surgery was successful.
The official diagnosis of the injury is still unclear.
We know that Jon Moxley will be facing Hiroshi Tanahashi or Hirooki Goto at Forbidden Door to become Interim AEW World Champion after Moxley beat Kyle O’Reilly in the main event of tonight’s Dynamite.
We continue to wish Punk all the best with his recovery.
