Fans were surprised when AEW President Tony Khan announced TBS Champion Jade Cargill would be facing Leila Grey at last night’s AEW Blood & Guts, but it turns out it may have been a devious plan.
Grey was easily beaten in the match, which led to Cargill’s manager Stokely Hathaway calling out both Kris Statlander and Athena for some “real competition” for Cargill.
However, while Cargill, Keira Hogan, Athena and Statlander were fighting, Hathaway appeared to whisper something into Leila Grey’s ear, which caused her to enter the ring and align herself with The Baddies.
Despite her help, Cargill didn’t seem entirely convinced by the potential new member of her faction, and even pushed Grey away at one point, so we’ll have to see if she becomes a full-time member of the faction in the future.
What is happening here?! @callmekrisstat and @AthenaPalmer_FG have taken down the champ, but @StokelyHathaway‘s instructions to @Miss_LeilaGrey have confused us all here! #AEWDynamite #BloodAndGuts is LIVE on @TBSNetwork! pic.twitter.com/KoNOjp2FfV
