There has been many reports regarding the backstage unhappiness in AEW in recent weeks, including some of the company’s biggest names like CM Punk and Hangman Page.
As the reports continue to emerge, there has been rumours of several AEW stars requesting their release from the company, with the most rumoured name being that of Malakai Black.
Fighful Select (subscription required) has provided an update, noting that, while some outside sources have indicated that Black requested his release, they were unable to confirm that directly with AEW.
However, Fightful noted that they had heard the rumour from within the AEW roster that Black had been unhappy, though the reason was not something that could be reported without being confirmed first-hand.
Fightful also noted that the sources that claimed Black wasn’t happy in the company also said that they believe things had been smoothed over ‘to some degree’.
Black is signed to a five-year AEW contract that has four years left on it. He is set to team with Brody King and Buddy Matthews against Miro, Sting and Darby Allin at the upcoming All Out event.
