The October 10 episode of WWE Raw saw WWE celebrate 25 years of D-Generation X, with Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Road Dogg and X-Pac coming to the ring to honor the stable.
Notably absent from the reunion was Billy Gunn, who is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling as the beloved Daddy Ass.
While fans didn’t expect the AEW star to appear on WWE television, Road Dogg recently detailed how Billy told him he was ‘in’ for the reunion, before he was ultimately pulled at the last minute.
More details on Gunn missing the celebration have come out, per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Per Meltzer, Tony Khan had agreed to let Billy Gunn fo the show, but requested that WWE mention him working for AEW live on the air, a request which WWE ultimately denied.
He wrote:
“Khan agreed to let him do to the show but on the air they would have to mention he’s from AEW, or that AEW allowed him to appear or some wording, but there had to be one mention that in some form he works for AEW, just as WWE already did when they got Mickie James for the Royal Rumble this past year. WWE stalled on the yes or no, and then at the last minute would not agree to it.”
Billy Gunn was in action two days later on the October 12 episode of Dynamite, where he was defeated by Swerve Strickland.
He will accompany AEW World Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed to the ring for their title vs trademark match with Tony Nese and Josh Woods on tonight’s Rampage, with Mark Sterling currently holding the Scissor Me trademark, preventing the champs from scissoring Daddy Ass.
