Logan Paul has suffered serious injuries at WWE Crown Jewel, there was a major hint that Sasha Banks and Naomi could be on their way back to WWE, and an NXT star is reportedly being ‘fast tracked’ in the company.
It’s Sunday morning, and here’s our news bulletin for November 6, 2022 to help get your day underway.
Logan Paul Suffers Serious Injuries At WWE Crown Jewel
YouTuber turned WWE star Logan Paul has made a great impression on WWE fans in his three wrestling matches as a part of WWE.
Paul made his in-ring debut back at WrestleMania 38, and challenged the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at last night’s WWE Crown Jewel event.
Logan once again showed out during the match, proving that he belongs as a part of the WWE roster, and that his training with WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels paid off.
Despite an incredible performance and interference from brother Jake, Logan was unable to take the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship from Roman Reigns,
The main event saw a lot of interference, namely from the aforementioned Jake Paul, who took to Twitter after the show to tease that he could be coming after the Usos alongside Roman following Crown Jewel.
However, we may not be seeing Logan for a long time after his incredible performance in Riyadh, as he took to Twitter shortly after the show to reveal that he suffered several serious injuries halfway through the match.
He said:
torn meniscus, MCL & potentially ACL
happened halfway through the match. keep y’all updated
The results of WWE’s Crown Jewel show were as followed:
- Brock Lesnar def. Bobby Lashley
- Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai & IYO SKY) def. Alexa Bliss & Asuka to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. IYO and Dakota made history with their victory, becoming the first women to win a championship in Saudi Arabia.
- Drew McIntyre def. Karrion Kross in a Steel Cage match. PWInsider later reported that McIntyre worked this match while ill
- The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest & Dominik Mysterio) def. the OC (AJ Styles, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson). WWE made reference to the Bullet Club and New Japan Pro Wrestling by name during the match.
- Braun Strowman def. Omos. WWE officials have reportedly praised Omos for his work in recent weeks, including his performance during this match.
- The Usos def. the Brawling Brutes to retain the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. This victory confirmed that the Usos will take on the New Day on next week’s SmackDown.
- Bianca Belair def. Bayley in a Last Man Standing match to retain the Raw Women’s Championship.
- Roman Reigns def. Logan Paul to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Major Sasha Banks & Naomi Hint At WWE Crown Jewel
Sasha Banks and Naomi have seemingly found themselves in the news daily after their walk out on the May 16 episode of WWE Raw.
The pair, who at the time reigned as the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, left the titles on the desk of then-head of talent relations John Laurinaitis, before walking out of the show, not yet returning to our screens since.
The tale of Sasha Banks and Naomi in the months since has been a bizarre one, with multiple conflicting reports about whether or not the pair had been released from their WWE contracts, while other reports state that the pair are still under contract.
Sasha Banks took to her Instagram story on Friday, hyping up that a date she has waited ‘six months for’ was coming up soon, which many took to believe was related to wrestling.
Well, it turns out the pair may be making their WWE returns soon, as both of them were added back to WWE’s ‘Then, Now, Forever’ intro prior to last night’s WWE Crown Jewel event, with Sasha Banks later being mentioned by name by Michael Cole.
With WarGames coming up, could the former Women’s Tag Team Champions once again appear on WWE TV soon?
WWE NXT Star Cora Jade Being ‘Fast Tracked’
When WWE NXT rebranded to the ‘2.0’ era last September, it was done so as a way to create talent that was more ‘main roster ready’ than those stars called up during the Black and Gold era of the show.
One of WWE’s brightest stars in NXT is Cora Jade. The 21 year old has come a long way during her near two year run as a part of the WWE developmental brand.
It seems that Cora’s growth has not gone unnoticed by the company and Triple H, who reportedly sees big things in the star’s future.
Speaking with GiveMeSport’s Louis Dangoor, the WrestleVotes Twitter account said that the company is being ‘fast tracked’, with WWE seeing her as the ‘next Sasha Banks’.
They said:
“Everybody loves Cora. She’s on the fast track to becoming the next Sasha Banks.
“She has the same thing Sasha has, she’s talented she’s got this unique look about her, she’s super young and she’s pretty decent in the ring, right?
“The potential of her becoming a big deal is high and WWE sees that.”
Cora Jade came up short against rival Roxanne Perez at NXT Halloween Havoc, but scored a rebound victory over Valentina Feroz on her return to the show this week.
Other Stuff
During his main event encounter with Logan Paul, Roman Reigns called out other YouTubers, namely KSI and Mr Beast, to not try and come to WWE. This prompted a response from both men on Twitter.
Speaking of Reigns, he now officially seems set to take part in the upcoming Survivor Series WarGames premium live event, as he and the Bloodline were heavily featured in the advert for the event that aired during WWE Crown Jewel.
As well as Reigns being featured, the advert also revealed that ’10 people’ will be a part of a WarGames match, implying that the main roster version will consist of two teams of five rather than the two teams of four formula that NXT had been using prior.
WWE is reportedly discussing a ‘Kevin Owens style’ debut for NXT star Grayson Waller, who the company sees big potential in.
On Friday night’s AEW Rampage, the complete bracket for the AEW Full Gear Eliminator tournament was revealed. The first round will see Eddie Kingston face Ethan Page, Bandido take on Rush, Ricky Starks clash with Lance Archer and finally Brian Cage face off with Dante Martin. The winner will face the AEW World Champion at the Winter is Coming episode of AEW Dynamite.
AEW announced that the Ring of Honor World Championship will be defended at Full Gear, with champion Chris Jericho defending against Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli and stablemate Sammy Guevara in a four-way match.
On Friday’s WWE SmackDown, WWE announced that the first ever ‘SmackDown World Cup’ will debut on next week’s episode of the show. The show was main evented by an Intercontinental Championship bout, seeing Gunther retain the gold against Rey Mysterio.
WWE star Otis shared an emotional post to his Instagram account, opening up about his battle with dyslexia after reading his first book cover to cover for the first time.
The ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ Mike Tyson made his AEW return on Rampage, commentating for the AEW All-Atlantic title match, which saw champion Orange Cassidy defend the title against NJPW icon Katsuyori Shibata.
