WWE NXT commentator Booker T has commented on the possibility of The Rock defeating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.
As previously reported, The Rock is pencilled in to face Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at the April 1-2 event, providing that his schedule allows for him to train for a return to the ring.
While WWE has yet to confirm The Rock’s involvement with WrestleMania 39, let alone a wrestling return, many have called for the Hollywood star to make a comeback to face his ‘cousin’.
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T recalled when he won a championship in his Reality of Wrestling promotion before quickly relinquishing the gold, speculating that The Rock could do something similar if he was to defeat Reigns:
“I don’t know. It could be one of those things like when I won the title at Reality of Wrestling and just left it in the ring. I just had to show it. It could be one of those types of deals.”
Believing that WWE would protect Reigns no matter the outcome, Booker noted:
“Roman’s not the type of guy you want to have to build up all over again. Roman is not your regular average Joe out there doing this. I feel, as a promoter, you’ve got to protect that guy.”
Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Title challenger for the January 28, 2023 Royal Rumble premium live event has reportedly been revealed.
