The first challengers for the New Day’s NXT Tag Team Championship reign have been revealed on tonight’s December 13 NXT.
New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods won the title from Pretty Deadly at NXT Deadline on December 10 and appeared on NXT TV tonight for a celebration.
Their celebration was cut short by Pretty Deadly themselves, who wanted a rematch.
However, New Day said they could only get the rematch if they joined in with the US pledge of allegiance – Pretty Deadly are English, so they didn’t want to.
The team of Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs, who are very much American, came out, and joined in with the pledge.
Because they did it, New Day gave them the title match for next week instead of Pretty Deadly – so next week New Day will defend against Briggs and Jensen.
Also worth mentioning in case you hadn’t seen is the Mandy Rose vs Roxanne Perez NXT Women’s Title match will now be happening TONIGHT, not January 10 as previously scheduled.
